My priority as a childminder is to keep children happy and safe from harm whilst in my care.
My home is kept to the required standards expected of me, which are set by CIW.
In the event of an emergency I always have to hand telephone numbers to contact children’s parents/guardians, the children’s GP, my local GP, emergency GP and NHS helpline.
At home I have access to a landline telephone on both floors and I have a mobile telephone for when we are out and about (parents will also be given this number).
As required by my registration I have a current Paediatric First Aid Certificate, I have a fully stocked first aid box which is accessible at all times and I also have a travel kit.
A fire blanket is situated in the kitchen and smoke detectors are fitted throughout and checked regularly.
Regular fire drills with the children ensure that they all know what the alarms sound like and what to do if a situation arises.
In an emergency situation your child may be left with my husband Andrew Marshall (who has been fully DBS checked).
An emergency situation is one that I am required to accompany an injured child to hospital r that I require hospital treatment myself.
If there is an accident I will reassure the child whilst ensuring the safety of other children in my care. I will attempt to address the situation myself but if am unable I will phone 999.
If I have to accompany a child to hospital I will contact my emergency back-up (noted above), they will be familiar to you and your child and they will contact you to request you collect your child immediately.
If it is your child that is injured I will contact you and ask you to meet me at the hospital immediately.
If I am injured I will get the nearest responsibly adult until my emergency back-up is contacted.
I will do my best at all times to make sure all the children in my care are kept safe and away from harm.
